The USRBC is pleased to support PostClassical Ensemble's multi-concert Russian Festival to be held in the spring and fall of 2017.  Concerts and events will take place at various venues within the District of Columbia including Sidney Harman Hall Center for the Arts, American University, Edlavitch Jewish Community Center, National Gallery of Art and Georgetown University among others.

The Russian Festival will feature major Russian-born artists and scholars, exploring the many compelling elements of 20th century Russian culture virtually unknown in the West.

PostClassical Ensemble (PCE) was founded in 2002 by U.S. cultural historian Joseph Horowitz and former Associate Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Spain, Angel Gil-Ordóñez, to produce culturally enriching, cross-disciplinary programming.  PCE has advocated music as means of promoting mutual understanding.  This approach has led to collaborations with the governments of Spain and Mexico; the Mexican Cultural Institute; the Austrian Cultural Forum; the U.S. State Department; educational institutions such as Georgetown University, American University, Howard University and the DC Public School System among others.

To support its efforts to further Music for Mutual Understanding , PCE will hold a Gala Dinner on March 15, 2017 featuring renowned pianist and conductor Vladimir Feltsman.  The Gala Dinner will honor the late U.S. Ambassador to Russia Arthur Hartman.  It will explore how Amb. Hartman practiced cultural diplomacy that warmed relations between the U.S. and Soviet Russia, as well as positively affected the lives of Russian artists, musicians and intellectuals.
